The nearby Helderberg Reserve Bird Sanctuary has won many awards for the best bird sanctuary in a reserve and is home to many Cape “specials”.
This route can be a wonderful honeymoon, a family holiday, a lazy week, an explorer’s challenge, a photographer’s dream, the adrenalin junkies fix…. If you are one of those very lucky people who can take an extra week then you can enjoy the incredible Route 62 back to Cape Town from Port Elizabeth.

As the basic route is the N2, each detour takes you off the N2, only to re-join it later.
The Helderberg Reserve Bird Sanctuary is left off Lourensford Road into Landroskop Drive, and left again into Verster Ave.
